Assistance for Judith Hoffberg

The ARLIS Southern California Chapter Board would like to encourage ARLIS members to consider making individual donations to the Judith Hoffberg Fund. We feel this is the most practical and timely way for assistance to make its way to Judith.

According to our bylaws, as a Chapter we are unable make an individual contribution or collect monies to distribute (through a fundraiser) to an individual, so we feel that encouraging donations to the Judith Hoffberg Fund is the most helpful thing we can do.

For those of you who did not see the earlier message on ARLIS-L, I have copied it below. Please send any contributions to the address provided below.
Best regards,
Robert Gore
ARLIS-SC Chair (on behalf of the Board)

Dear ARLIS Members,

Judith Hoffberg founded ARLIS/NA in 1972, when she brought together ten leading art librarians at ALA in Chicago to create an organization devoted to this demanding field. Her fascinating account of the early years of ARLIS/NA appeared as an interview with Amy Navratil Ciccone in the Spring 2008 Art Documentation.

Judy is very ill now with leukemia and has run through her hospitalization insurance. The copay has been costing her $200 per day, and she could use some of our help.

Donations should be sent to:
Judith Hoffberg Fund

Cards and letters will be welcome.
