Chapter Balch Library Tour at LACMA & Hollywood Costume Exhibit Tour

Tour of the recently remodeled Balch Art Research Library at LACMA by Head Librarian Alexis Curry and then the Hollywood Costume Exhibit by Curator and UCLA Faculty Deboah Landis!

Where:  The Research Library is located at 5905 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, 90036 on the L Level of the Bing Center (one floor below the plaza level)

About the Mr. and Mrs. Allan C. Balch Art Research Library:

The Mr. and Mrs. Allan C. Balch Art Research Library maintains an extensive research-level collection of approximately 175,000 books, journals, and periodicals. This noncirculating collection consists of monographs on artists and specialized art subjects; art reference books; collection and exhibition catalogues of museums, galleries, and private collectors; scholarly periodicals in the field of art and related areas; current auction catalogues; artist files; and material in related fields of study.

LACMA Parking and Arrival Details:

Attendees should park in the lot on Spaulding and Wilshire. Once you have arrived, cross the street to the museum’s “Staff Entrance” (at the base of the stairs leading to the plaza). The guard on duty will issue visitor’s badges and validate parking.

HOLLYWOOD COSTUME EXHIBIT – $20 Ticketed Entry

2:00pm: Tour of the Hollywood Costume Exhibit Tour by curator Deborah Landis

Where: The exhibition is located at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard in the Wilshire May Company Building, on the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax, Los Angeles 90036, next to LACMA. Entrance to the exhibition is on the east side of the building.

About the Hollywood Costume Exhibit:

Organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, this ticketed exhibition explores the central role of costume design–from the glamorous to the very subtle–as an essential tool of cinematic storytelling. On view October 2, 2014 through March 2, 2015 the exhibition brings together the world’s most iconic costumes from the Golden Age of cinema to the present.

Parking and Arrival Details:

This exhibition is walking distance from LACMA. So if you parked in the LACMA parking lot, you can leave your car in the lot and walk over after the tour of the Balch library.  Otherwise, Visitors may park in the Pritzker Parking Garage located on 6th Street just east of Fairfax Avenue, or in the lot at Spaulding Avenue and Wilshire Blvd. Parking costs $12 for the day. Metered parking on the street is also available.
